“Marina Grande”or in italian “Spiaggia grande” is the main beach in Positano.

It will look very different depending on the month you are visiting. We were there in the second week of April which means the water was still very cold and not many people were around.

We don´t like big crowds, so for us, it was peaceful and nice. The weather forecast was showing constant rain and electric storms and we kinda enjoyed it. Luckily on the second day, we got to walk downstairs to the “Spiaggia grande” and got a little bit of sunshine.

Being in Positano you need to know you have to walk a lot down and up the stairs, there are buses and expensive luxurious taxis, but if you can, you will enjoy wandering around their little streets full of amazing vintage details.

Also, know that a taxi can only get you near the beach entry, but still, the only way to get from there to the beach is on foot.

There are other beaches we didn’t get to visit but we read on them and here´s the list of the most important ones.

Fornillo Beach:

Walking something between 10 to 15 minutes along the coast from Piaggia Grande, you ‘ll find Fornillo Beach. It is a smaller and supposedly less crowded beach. The sand is rockier than in Marina Grande and more people report Jellyfish encounters. Some less crowded restaurants around with better prices.

Arienzo Beach:

There are 2 ways to get to Arienzo Beach, one is famous because of the long staircase you have to walk down from the road to get there, almost 300 steps. The other way is by boat, there are private and public areas on this beach. We read on a service you can book that will take you there from Positano Port, includes beach chair and umbrella and entry to one of the private areas.
